Nebraska Army Reserve Unit Afghanistan-Bound

WOWT

It was an emotional goodbye Saturday morning at Elkhorn High School for 20 members of a Nebraska Army Reserve unit heading to Afghanistan.
There were big hugs and struggles to hold back the tears. "I'm real proud of her and I pray for her safety,” said Caroline Sadel.
It will be a year before Kendra Olsen sees her grandmother again. "Scared, nervous, leaving my family and friends and everything I know,” said Olsen of the 456th Army Reserve. She was one of the 20 members of the 456th Transportation Detachment heading to Afghanistan to provide support for NATO forces as part of the war effort.
They received big thanks in advance. "To the 456th, I'm going to say thank you,” said Nebraska Congressman Lee Terry.
For Robert DeLarosa, it's his fourth deployment. "It's going to be shorter, but I'm still going to be away. I'm going to miss spending time, miss a lot of stuff they're going to be doing.”
William Allebach is already counting the days before he can hold his daughter again. "It's going to be really hard actually. I'm going to miss her first birthday, but I'm looking forward to coming back and seeing her.”
Moments lost for those leaving and for those left caring for the household, like Amanda Brisbois, a mother of three. "It's going to be crazy, but we look forward to him being back already.”
A year's deployment that can't pass by soon enough. The soldiers first deploy to Fort Hood in Texas for training.
