Washington, Sep 23 - Today, Congressman Bill Foster (IL-14) made the following statement in response to today’s release of the August Illinois Monthly Labor Force Report.  Based on the county unemployment rate data contained in the report, the unemployment rate for the 14th District has dropped almost a full percentage point to 9.4 percent, and is lower than the national average, which is 9.5 percent.

(To view the data, visit http://lmi.ides.state.il.us/download/August%202010_LAUS.pdf and http://lmi.ides.state.il.us/pdfs/countymap.pdf ).

“While unemployment is still unacceptably high and we obviously have a lot of work left to do before our economy fully recovers, today’s drop in unemployment numbers in the 14th District is encouraging.  These numbers provide evidence that improving business conditions and four straight quarters of economic growth have begun to translate into job creation and a move toward a lower unemployment rate for our district.”
