LINDER ANNOUNCES 23rd ANNUAL CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION

Representative John Linder (R-Duluth) is once again hosting the annual Seventh District Congressional art competition, “An Artistic Discovery.” The winner will be invited to attend the opening of the national exhibition this summer in Washington, D.C., where his or her work will be displayed in the hall leading to the U.S. Capitol for one year.

“A creative mind can be a key to success in life,” Representative Linder said. “I am pleased to encourage creative expression among our young people through a worthwhile competition such as this.”

Representative Linder will also hold an awards ceremony on May 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Snellville City Hall, 2460 Main Street East. Both the Savannah College of Art and Design and the Art Institute of Atlanta are offering scholarships to the winning students from each Congressional district.

Guidelines:

• Entries must be submitted to Representative Linder’s Duluth or Canton District office by APRIL 30, 2004.

• Entrants must be high school students of public, private or home schools located in Georgia’s Seventh District.

• Artwork must be no larger than 32 x 32 inches (including the frame) and no more than four inches in depth.

• Entries must fall within one of the following categories: paintings (oils, acrylics, watercolor); drawings (pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, markers, etc.); prints (lithographs, silkscreen, block prints); collage (must be two-dimensional); computer graphics; or photography.

• Each entry must be an original concept and cannot violate U.S. copyright laws.
