July 30, 2009 Democratic Leadership, Physicians: Broken System Hinders Patient AccessWashington, DC— Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senators Durbin, Schumer and Murray stood with Dr. Jim King of the American Academy of Family Physicians and Dr. Joe Stubbs of the American College of Physicians at a press conference today to discuss how health insurance reform will help improve the quality of health care. Democrats are working to pass health insurance reform because skyrocketing costs and burdensome insurance procedures reduces patients’ access to the quality care that every American deserves.

The Senate will convene at 9:30 a.m. Following any Leader remarks, there will be a period of morning business with Senators permitted to speak for up to 10 minutes each. The Republicans will control the first 30 minutes and the majority will control the next 30 minutes.
