Archer Intern Program

I am privileged to be able to continue the Bill Archer Student Intern Program, a great tradition begun in 1971 by former 7th District Congressman Bill Archer.

Each year, one junior from every high school in the 7th District is selected by teachers and fellow students to visit Washington, D.C. for a full week of in-depth study of our federal government. This program has been successful because of the willingness of our nation’s leaders to share their thoughts and insights with these young people. This program has been a life altering experience for many of the participating students, and instills in all of them a lifelong interest in politics and government.

The interns and their chaperones visit Washington, D.C. for one week in March or April. All expenses are paid by the Bill Archer Student Intern Foundation of Houston, and applications are available annually at each high school in the 7th District.

If you are an administrator, teacher, or counselor from a Congressional District 7 high school interested in getting your school involved in the Archer Intern Program, please call the Houston office at (713) 682-8828 for more information.
