Washington, Sep 23 -

Congresswoman Betsy Markey today voted to pass the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act (H.R. 5297), legislation that will cut taxes on small businesses and increase access to capital for small businesses and allow them to create new jobs.

“As a former small business owner, I know how tough it is to create jobs and grow your business when you can’t get access to capital,” said Rep. Markey. “This bill will cut taxes and boost lending to small businesses across Colorado so they have the resources they need to continue innovating, growing, and creating jobs in our communities.”

The Small Business Jobs and Credit Act will help small businesses access the capital they need to create jobs by encouraging new lending by financial institutions. The bill establishes the Small Business Lending Fund, which provides $30 billion to expand lending to small businesses looking to create jobs and make new investments. The bill also cuts taxes on small businesses by $12billion, and is estimated to create as many as 500,000 small business jobs.
