Schumer, Chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, Appointed Bartoletti to Advise the EAC on Voting Issues

Bartoletti has Served as a Voting Advocate for More than Two Decades

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, announced his appointment of New Yorker Barbara Bartoletti to serve on the Board of Advisors to the federal Election Assistance Commission (EAC) . The 37-member Board of Advisors is responsible for assisting the EAC in carrying out its mandates under the law, which include developing guidance for states to meet the requirements of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA), adopting voluntary voting system guidelines, certifying voting systems, and serving as the main source of information about election administration.

“I am very pleased to appoint Barbara Bartoletti to the EAC’s Board of Advisors,” Schumer said. “She has been a tireless advocate for voters in New York for more than two decades and her vast knowledge and experience will help the EAC tackle various challenges going forward.”

Bartoletti currently serves as the Legislative Director of the League of Women Voters of New York state and has done so for more than two decades. In this capacity, Bartoletti has educated New Yorkers across the state about citizen participation in government, advocacy and public policy issues, and has been the primary advocate for the statewide organization before the New York State Senate and Assembly on public policy issues. Bartoletti has also been a Member of the Advisory Board of the New York State Regents Advisory Commission for Accreditation of Proprietary Colleges since 2004 and an International Advocacy Trainer for 10 years.

Bartoletti lives in Rensselaer, New York.
