Chairman Thompson Statement on DC Metro Bomb Plot

October 27, 2010 (WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement regarding the federal investigation of a potential plot against the Washington Metro system:
“Threats against mass transit systems are not new, just new to us. This Committee has issued reports and passed legislation on the need for increased security for these systems. This arrest is another example of how public vigilance and information sharing are paramount to our fight against anyone who wants to do us harm. We will continue to examine this and all threats to ensure the safety of the riding public.”
