Providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 303) to amend title 10, United States Code, to permit retired members of the Armed Forces who have a service-connected disability to receive both military retired pay by reason of their years of military service and disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs for their disability.

Mr. MARSHALL submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Rules


RESOLUTION

Providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 303) to amend title 10, United States Code, to permit retired members of the Armed Forces who have a service-connected disability to receive both military retired pay by reason of their years of military service and disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs for their disability.

    Resolved, That immediately upon the adoption of this resolution the House shall without intervention of any point of order consider in the House the bill (H.R. 303) to amend title 10, United States Code, to permit retired members of the Armed Forces who have a service-connected disability to receive both military retired pay by reason of their years of military service and disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs for their disability. The bill shall be considered as read for amendment. The previous question shall be considered as ordered on the bill and on any amendment thereto to final passage without intervening motion except: (1) four hours of debate on the bill equally divided among and controlled by the chairmen and ranking minority members of the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Veterans' Affairs; (2) an amendment in the nature of a substitute printed in the Congressional Record pursuant to clause 8 of rule XVIII, if offered by Representative Hunter of California or his designee, which shall be considered as read and shall be separately debatable for one hour equally divided and controlled by the proponent and an opponent; and (3) one motion to recommit with or without instructions.

    SEC. 2. During consideration of H.R. 303 pursuant to the first section of this resolution, notwithstanding the operation of the previous question, the Chair may postpone further consideration of the bill to a time designated by the Speaker on the same legislative day or until the following legislative day when consideration shall resume immediately after the third daily order of business under clause 1 of rule XIV.
