Wood-Ridge, one of 70 towns that comprise Bergen County,
is home to approximately 7,600 residents. A small town established in 1894,
Wood-Ridge was once inhabited by the Lenni-Lenape Indians. The Wood-ridge Historical
Society was formed to help preserve the rich past of this historic town.
In 2005, Wood-Ridge broke ground on the Wesmont Station
project, which calls for the complete rehabilitation and environmental clean-up
of an abandoned industrial site and a vacant strip mall that encompass over 1/3
of the total land area of the borough. Once completed, Wesmont Station will
provide the residents of Wood-ridge with a new events plaza, a state of the art
recreational facility, a new community train station, a new Middle School, and an
enhanced Science Department at Wood-Ridge
High School.
