Partnering with the Library of Congress and the Nashville Public Library, Congressman Cooper is working to collect and preserve the stories of Tennessee veterans for future generations. The Veterans History Project compiles oral histories and written materials such as letters, journals, maps, and photographs from veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars, the Persian Gulf war, and the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.  

The project is an initiative of the Library of Congress and was created by the United States Congress in 2000 as a way to collect the stories and experiences of war veterans while they are still among us.
Cooper's office will be conducting taped interviews of local veterans and compiling donated written materials. Congressman Cooper will then deliver the oral histories and documents to the Library of Congress for cataloging and archiving.
