Since the tragic events of September 11, 2001, brave Americans have heroically sought to preserve and defend democracy and freedom around the world in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), and Operation New Dawn (OND).  House Republicans recognize the service and sacrifices of America’s newest generation of veteran heroes and have sought to ensure they return home to a grateful nation and an efficient, effective Department of Veterans Affairs.  

Healthcare

Well over 1 million servicemembers have left active duty and become eligible for VA healthcare since 2002. Combat veterans are eligible to enroll in the VA health care system, notwithstanding service-connection, for five years following separation from service.  House Republicans encourage all OEF/OIF/OND veterans to enroll in the VA health care system to receive comprehensive, high quality medical care and services.
