Grants

Millions of dollars are set aside by federal agencies each year for grant requests. Though the senator is unable to influence the awarding of grant money, his staff can provide resources you can use to find the funds you seek. In some cases, a letter of support can be provided to include with your grant application.

Senate Page Program

The U.S. Senate page program allows Senator Bennett's office to select one Utah high school junior to spend a semester in Washington D.C., studying at the Senate Page School and working for the U.S. Senate.  Senate pages enjoy a semester of study and work in the nation's capitol during their junior year of high school. The school day begins at 6:15 a.m. and concludes at 9:30 a.m. Pages then report for duty to their respective cloakrooms and work until 5:00 p.m. or until the Senate adjourns for the day. Floor duties consist primarily of delivery of correspondence and legislative material within the congressional complex.

To be eligible a student must be 16 years of age, a citizen of the United States of America, and have a social security number. Most young people appointed enjoy honor roll status at their home school and may not stay in the program if their grades fall below a C in any class. Students must be willing to sign a code of conduct pledge and are required to comply with the page program alcohol and drug policy.

With only 30 page positions to serve the Senate's 100 members, not all senators are able to appoint pages and the competition is keen for the program. As such, this opportunity is only open to three students per year. If you are a Utah student interested in applying for the Senate page program please contact Senator Bennett's Salt Lake City office.

Additional information about the Senate Page Program may be found on the U.S. Senate web site.
