To create the next generation of clean energy jobs, make our nation more secure and reduce the pollution that causes global warming, Democrats are committed to investing in our nation’s clean energy future. By investing in renewable sources of energy and funding research on the next clean technology breakthroughs, Democrats are fighting to not only increase our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil, but create jobs right here in America.
In every state, Democrats are working to preserve our natural resources and ensure that the next generation of clean energy technologies come from here in America. That is why Democrats are advancing the Make It In America agenda, which includes a bill passed in the House that helps veterans secure energy jobs and another that boosts the competitiveness of the U.S. clean technology industry.
Democrats have also enacted into law the first new fuel efficiency standards for cars in 32 years and have passed bills to make our homes and businesses more energy efficient while creating new jobs in the process. We have made an unprecedented commitment to clean energy, including an $80 billion investment in clean energy and energy efficiency, saving consumers money and creating jobs. In addition, Majority Leader Hoyer is committed to the development of nuclear energy, which he believes is a critical component of our efforts to enhance our energy security and meet our country’s power needs while producing less pollution.
