Crowley Hosts Chair of U.S. House Transportation Committee at La Guardia on Congestion, Noise Issues

Crowley continues push to ensure Federal officials address persistent congestion, noise nuisance for homes in region surrounding LaGuardia Airport in Queens

(Queens, N.Y.)
Congressman Joseph Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx) recently hosted Congressman James L. Oberstar, Chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, at La Guardia Airport (LGA) for a site tour, meeting with airport officials and visit with local community advocates.

“I thank Chairman Oberstar for coming to La Guardia to meet with airport officials and local community leaders on the critical issues that face the LGA and the surrounding neighborhoods,” said Congressman Crowley.  “While LGA will never be a good neighbor, we can all work together to make it a better member of the Queens community.  It is important for national leaders like Chairman Oberstar to meet with local leaders face-to-face and see the impact of the airport on local residents.   I look forward to working with Chairman Oberstar to ensure that Federal authorities fully address the noise and air pollution issues, and that Queens has a strong voice in the efforts to improve Federal airport regulation and safety.”

Congressman Crowley is the six-term U.S. Representative from the 7th District of New York that includes sections of Queens near La Guardia Airport.  He has worked extensively with community leaders, Federal officials and representatives from New York City and State to promote congestion and noise abatement for schools, businesses and homes in close proximity to La Guardia Airport.
