Crowley Joins Free Tax Preparation Day at Co-op City

(Bronx, N.Y). – Special guest Congressman Crowley joined the Food Bank for New York City and the City University of New York (CUNY) at the Free Tax Preparation and Financial Literacy Day held Friday, March 27th at the Dreiser Auditorium in Co-op City.  The free tax preparation and financial education event was a great success, with dozens of Bronx residents receiving free volunteer income tax assistance courtesy of the Food Bank For New York City.  Congressman Crowley works with residents and organizations across the 7th Congressional District to raise awareness of a number of tax benefits available for working families, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) that up to $4,800 year for many working families across New York.

Congressman Crowley applauded the Food Bank for New York City and CUNY for their great work and said, “In these difficult economic times, every dollar counts.  Unfortunately, too many working families in Co-op City and across the Bronx are missing out on thousands of dollars in tax refunds each year because they fail to claim the EITC or other tax credits.  We all need to work together to help spread the word so hard-working families can get back more of their hard-earned money.”

Congressman Crowley is a member of the exclusive House Committee on Ways and Means, which has jurisdiction over the Internal Revenue Service and tax policies.
