Congressman Crowley on the 9th Anniversary of September 11th

Washington, D.C. Today, Congressman Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx) issued the following statement marking the ninth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks:

“Today, we remember and honor the thousands who perished on September 11th, 2001. Regardless of the number of years that pass, our hearts remain heavy with the profound loss of our fellow Americans. In their memory, the resilient spirit of our nation and the unwavering resolve of its people live on.

“Just as we pay tribute to those who lost their lives that day, we must also honor the thousands of firefighters, policemen, rescue workers and medical personnel who, without hesitation, rushed to Ground Zero to search for survivors and to clean the site. As the nation stood in shock, these brave men and women stood as an inspiration to us all.

“Nine years later, the thousands of heroes who are now suffering from health issues as a result of their efforts that fateful day are still awaiting much-needed healthcare. That’s why I am helping to lead the fight to pass the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. It’s not enough for the Congress to simply claim that we honor those who served on September 11th. We must pass this bill to ensure that these heroes receive the care they need and deserve.

“We made a promise to never forget the fallen, and we should do the same for those who survived.”

Congressman Crowley is the six-term representative from the 7th Congressional District of New York, which includes sections of Queens and the Bronx. He is a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee and the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
