Buchanan Recognized For Protecting Small Business, Promoting Entrepreneurship PDF Print

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan (FL-13) has been recognized for his votes to protect small business and promote entrepreneurship. Buchanan was ranked a “Champion of the Entrepreneur” by the Small Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE) Council for his votes on legislation that promotes the growth of small businesses.

“Small businesses create 70 percent of new jobs and employ more than half of private sector workers,” said Buchanan. “They are vital to getting our nation’s economy moving again. We need to help small business and oppose job-killing policies that increase taxes and add to the cost of doing business.”

Buchanan scored a 95 on the SBE council’s Small Business Scorecard for the 111th Congress.

"The scorecard is a solid measurement of how Members of Congress voted on issues important to entrepreneurs," said SBE Council President & CEO. "Politicians often talk a good game of supporting small business and entrepreneurship, but how they actually vote on legislation is what really matters."

For the 111th Congress, SBE Council scored members of the U.S. House of Representatives on 22 votes, including the health care bill, the stimulus package, and cap and trade legislation.
