Buchanan Urges Florida Senators To Repeal Backroom Deals |
Calls On Senators To Support McCain Amendment Washington, D.C. – Congressman Vern Buchanan (FL-13) urged Florida Senators Bill Nelson and George LeMieux to support Senator McCain’s amendment to repeal the back-room deals that were added to the health care bill. “The American people strongly object to these offensive and outrageous budget-busters,” wrote Buchanan. “As you know, several sweetheart provisions were added to this bill to win support for its passage,” continued the 13th District Congressman. “Many of these provisions have been highly publicized, the ‘Louisiana Purchase’ for one, while numerous others have gone unnoticed.” Buchanan noted that Tennessee will receive almost $100 million in extra assistance too. The “Connecticut” deal will give $100 million for a single hospital in Connecticut. A special provision was inserted that only helps the residents of Libby, Montana. “This kind of backroom deal-making is why the American people have lost confidence in Washington,” he wrote. “The McCain Amendment strips all these special deals from the law and I believe is worthy of your support,” concluded Buchanan.
