Washington, D.C. — Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Ranking Member Steve Buyer made the following statement regarding the national health care bill and its lack of protections for veterans, servicemembers, military retirees, and their families:
“Why would the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Commander state that he is furious? ---Because Congress is moving a flawed bill that does not protect America’s military, veterans, widows and orphans.

Washington, D.C. — Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Ranking Member Steve Buyer and House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Buck McKeon introduced a bill and offered an amendment in effort to protect veterans, servicemembers, military retirees, and their families, from adverse consequences in the national health care bill. They were joined in their efforts by Deputy Ranking Member Cliff Stearns of the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and a number of other House members.

Washington, D.C. –Today, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) levied the second largest fine the agency has ever imposed for several incidents at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in which patient safety was compromised during prostate cancer treatments.
