Washington, D.C. — One of the few surviving members of the American WWII Volunteer Group famously known as the ‘Flying Tigers’ appeared before a Subcommittee hearing today on behalf of his fellow veterans who were left out of a benefits bill that recently passed the House.

Washington, D.C. — Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, Steve Buyer is proud to announce that Mr. Ed Stiles Sr. will testify before the House Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs on the morning of May 21, 2009.  Mr. Stiles was a crew chief with the American Volunteer Group famously known as the “Flying Tigers.”

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed a number of bills to improve economic opportunities for veterans and to encourage participation in Memorial Day events to honor those who paid the ultimate measure of sacrifice for our country.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee approved a bill that would provide compensation to individuals who served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II, but rejected by one vote, an amendment by Ranking Member Steve Buyer to cover similar veterans’ groups such as the Flying Tigers and the Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASPS).
