House Approves Veterans’ Legislation; Buyer’s Amendment to Help Homeless Women Veterans with Children Included

Washington, D.C. – Ranking Member Steve Buyer was pleased that the House of Representatives unanimously approved by voice vote H.R. 1171, as amended, the Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP) Act of 2009, which included an amendment that he offered at the full committee markup to address the needs of homeless women veterans.

Washington, D.C. –Today in a meeting with veterans’ organizations, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi reportedly announced that President Obama would not submit to Congress his plan to bill veterans’ private insurance for care related to service-connected injuries.  It is unclear why Speaker Pelosi and not the Administration made the announcement.
