Harry Teague to Tour VA Clinical Research Center PDF Print

Grants, New Mexico- On Wednesday, August 25th Congressman Harry Teague will tour the Veterans Affairs Clinical Research Pharmacy Coordinating Center in Albuquerque. The Center, recently named the non-profit organization winner of the 2009 Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award,  is part of the Veterans Affairs Cooperative Studies Program, which manages worldwide multi-center clinical trials on veteran-related issues like post-traumatic stress disorder and regaining limb function.

 

The Cooperative Studies Program Clinical Research Pharmacy Coordinating Center supports investigators by managing drug and device related activities for worldwide multi-center clinical trials conducted for the VA and other federal organizations. The Center's 111 employees have collaborated in planning and conduct of more than 200 multi-center clinical trials over its 39-year history.

 

A member of the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Health, Harry  Teague has made veterans’ issues a top priority, helping to secure advanced appropriations funding for the VA and introducing legislation aimed at addressing and reducing the impact of mental health issues like PTSD have on the lives of returning veterans. Recently, his bill to provide per diem and lodging payments to caregivers who accompany veterans on hospital visits was signed in to law as part of the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act.
