The Congressional Art Competition showcases the artistic talents of 8th District high school students.  Students may submit up to three pieces of artwork for judging by an independent panel made up of individuals from the 8th Congressional District who are involved in the arts.  Students will be eligible for one award each.

The competition is open to students in grades nine through 12 who are residents of the 8th Congressional District; students in seventh and eighth grades may participate if those classes are contained in the same building as grades nine through 12.  Artwork will be displayed for two weeks at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts in Hamilton.  An awards ceremony will be held April 19 to announce the winners.  The first place winning artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol, along with the works of other students from around the country, for one year.  Runners up will have their art work displayed in the West Chester or Troy district offices.

The First Place Winner is eligible to receive a scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design, if he or she is accepted to the school, and two round-trip plane tickets courtesy of Southwest Airlines to attend the awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., on June 17.
