The committee is tasked with overseeing a variety of domestic security matters, from Transportation to Cyber and Science Technology. Mr. Thompson hails from Mississippi's Second Congressional District, which stretches from Tunica in the north, to Jefferson County in the south, and all points in-between.
The committee is tasked with overseeing everything from Civil judicial procedings to Subversive activities affecting the internal security of the United States. Mr. Conyers represents the 14th district of Michigan which covers all of Highland Park and Hamtramck, as well as large portions of Detroit and Dearborn.
On February 15, 2007, Lorraine C. Miller was sworn in as the new Clerk of the House of Representatives. Ms. Miller is the first African American to serve as an official of the U.S. House of Representatives.
