WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Mike Michaud praised the U.S. Senate for approving the nomination of Sandy Blitz of Maine to be Federal Co-Chair of the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC). Michaud authored the bill that created the NBRC, which is a commission charged with investing federal resources in the economic development of the most distressed areas of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Upstate New York. “Today’s approval of his nomination is very welcome news,” said Michaud. “Having worked with Sandy Blitz for years, I am confident that his regional knowledge and his expertise in economic development will serve Maine and the entire region extremely well. Now that he’s been confirmed, he can take the helm of the commission and get it working for our region.”
