Washington, DC – Representative Steve Rothman (D-NJ), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement:
Today, we honor the hard-working Americans throughout our country. During these tough economic times, it is important that we take every opportunity to recognize the invaluable contributions of our workforce and continue the struggle to improve our economy – especially for the middle class.
As the backbone of our nation, these workers drive our economy. On Labor Day, we must rededicate ourselves to continuing the fight for a financial system that works for all Americans. And while we ought to acknowledge the tremendous progress we have made, over the past decades, in advancing the quality of life for America’s workers, we still have much further to go.
