Washington, DC – Representative Steve Rothman (NJ-9), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, recently authored a resolution congratulating the teams on building the greenest stadium in the world and released the following statement in advance of tonight’s NFL game between the Giants and the Jets in the new stadium in East Rutherford, NJ:
As the only Member of Congress to have the distinct honor of representing two National Football League franchises, I look forward to tonight’s contest between the Giants and the Jets. The first Monday night football game of the 2010 season promises to be a great start. In the pre-season, it doesn’t get much better than this!
Tonight the nation will also see our new state-of-the-art stadium at the Meadowlands (and site of the 2014 Super Bowl!) These organizations are steeped in tradition, have consistently been enormous assets to our community both on and off the football field, and have some of the most passionate and loyal sports fans in the country.
