Washington, DC - Representative Steve Rothman (D-NJ), a member of the House Appropriations Defense, and State and Foreign Operations Subcommittees, and cosponsor of the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act, was invited by the White House to today's signing because of his leadership on this important issue.

"The signing of the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act by President Barack Obama sends a very clear message to all countries and companies that they can either do business with the U.S. government or with the government headed by the brutish, tyrannical, and deranged President of Iran, but not both," said Rep. Rothman. "The Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act is the strongest Iran sanctions bill ever signed into law."

"President Obama and my colleagues understand that we must use all of the tools available to us to ensure that we prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapons capability. A world in which President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad could succeed in realizing his long-stated objective of wiping Israel off the map, and threatening U.S. troops and other allies in the region, is unacceptable," said Rep. Rothman.
