On May 17, 2010, Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ) presented Charles Meskis of Garfield with the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement at his office in Hackensack, NJ. Mr. Meskis was awarded the Bronze Star for the bravery he displayed on May 23 and May 24 1944 in support of combat operations in Anzino, Italy. In addition to presenting Charles Meskis with the Bronze Star, Congressman Rothman expressed his gratitude to Mr. Meskis and all those who fought in World War II for the enormous sacrifices they have made for our country. Bergen County Sheriff Leo P. McGuire, and 11 members of his family, including his wife Rose of 63 years joined Meskis as Congressman Rothman presented the medal.
