Washington, DC -- On May 24, 2010, Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ), a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, was thanked at the groundbreaking for the Meadowlands’ Richard P. Kane Tract for his pivotal and essential role in saving the last 8400 acres of open space in the Meadowlands, including the Kane Tract, and restoring and enhancing those environmentally sensitive wetlands. “Congressman Rothman is the federal champion of the preservation of the Hackensack Meadowlands and a longtime fighter for the environment,” said Captain Bill Sheehan, Chairman of Meadowlands Conservation.
