Washington, DC -- On May 26, 2010, Judith Enck, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2 Administrator, came to brief Congressman Steve Rothman, a member of the House Science and Technology Committee, at his office in Washington, DC. Administrator Enck serves on the White House Task Force on Puerto Rico, which is an 18-member panel composed of officials from federal agencies that deal with the island. She updated the Congressman on the ongoing health and environmental challenges facing Vieques, Puerto Rico, a small island off the south east coast of Puerto Rico, that was used as a bombing range by the U.S. Navy from World War II until 2003. Congressman Rothman has championed the effort in Congress to provide the people of Vieques with health and environmental relief.
