Washington, DC – Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ), a member of the House Appropriations Defense, and State and Foreign Operations Subcommittees, released the following statement:
"In the one and a half hour long meeting we discussed Iran, the situation in the Middle East in general, Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations and the Republican Party's efforts to distort President Obama's historically strong support and funding for US-Israel military and intelligence cooperation throughout his Presidency. With regards to Iran, the President reiterated his long held position that a nuclear weapons capable Iran would be unacceptable and that all options remain on the table and are being vigorously worked on simultaneously. With regards to the Israeli - Palestinian conflict the President urged the Palestinians and Israelis to move beyond the present proximity talks to direct negotiations without delay. He also reiterated that the US would never impose or seek to impose a solution on the Israelis or the Palestinians."
