Congressman Steve Rothman is recognized as a leader in the fight against autism
On April 23, 2010, The Children’s Institute (TCI) honored Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ) for his work in fighting for autism research, funding, and awareness. Congressman Rothman, a leading member of the Congressional Autism Caucus, received his award in front of hundreds of autism educators, students, families, and supporters at their annual gala in Florham Park, NJ. The Congressman, a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, has been instrumental in securing nearly $1 billion for autism-related research, early detection, and intervention throughout his congressional career. Congressman Rothman has also cosponsored and supported numerous bills related to autism including the “Combating Autism Act,” which authorized federal funding this important issue, and the “Autism Treatment Acceleration Act,” which improves the effectiveness of care to families and the individuals diagnosed with autism.
