(Washington, DC) – Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ) was able to ensure that the senior citizen transportation service of the Borough of North Arlington continues safe and reliable service to its users through funding from Fiscal Year 2009’s Transportation Appropriations Bill. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Congressman Rothman secured a total of $95,000 in federal funds to finance a new senior citizen bus in North Arlington.
“This much needed new bus is essential to providing safe and reliable transportation for North Arlington’s senior citizens. About 20% of North Arlington’s residents are senior citizens who rely on the Borough’s transportation system and may otherwise be homebound or forced to rely on others,” said Congressman Rothman. “I am proud to support this valuable bus service to Northern Arlington’s seniors. Our senior citizens have the right to have an effective transportation system that allows them to live a more normal life and stay connected, while still living independently.”
“Every federal dollar that we are able to secure for vital projects in our region means one less local tax dollar that needs to be raised from local tax payers,” said Congressman Rothman.
