Washington DC – On October 25, 2010, Representative Steve Rothman (D-NJ), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, was thanked for securing $1.9 million in federal funds for the Rutherford Train Station Restoration Project by New Jersey and Rutherford officials at a ribbon cutting ceremony. The funds Rep. Rothman brought back to his district fully financed the interior restoration of the station which included the walls, ceilings, and floors, as well as the rehabilitation of the decorative plaster, wainscoting, benches, and the ticketing window.
“I am pleased to have delivered federal funding to the people of Rutherford to make this project possible and maintain the integrity and history of the train station,” said Rep. Rothman. “We have not only restored the building’s century-old elegance, but we have also made it useful again, preventing even costlier repairs down the road.”
