Rep. Sutton Announces North Royalton Post Office Will Remain Open

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. Betty Sutton (D-OH) announced that the North Royalton Post Office will remain open and will no longer be considered for consolidation. On July 9, Rep. Sutton received official notification that the North Royalton Post Office was under review and subject to possible consolidation or closure.  However, Postal Service District Manager Don Marshall informed Rep. Sutton today that the office is no longer under review.

"When I received notification from the U.S. Postal Service about the review and possible closure of the North Royalton Post Office, I immediately responded to express my objection," Rep. Sutton said. "I am pleased that my efforts along with the efforts of Mayor Stefanik and community leaders to prevent this post office from closing have been a success."

The North Royalton office remains a vital center for business and the community, including the 51 people employed there. The continued presence and services of the post office are widely valued.

"We are pleased with the USPS' decision that recognized the need to continue to serve our growing community," said Mayor Robert Stefanik. "I want to thank Representative Sutton. This is really great news, and everyone's hard work paid off."

More than 3,500 petitions of support were gathered to retain the North Royalton Post Office. The city's population and economic development continues to expand and has the land to continue to develop and grow. It has experienced a growth rate of 30 percent for each of the last three decades and has seen a 20 percent growth rate between 2000 and 2010. The North Royalton Branch is the only post office within the 21 square miles of North Royalton.
