Congressional Art Competition Guidelines & Application Information
General Guidelines
The competition is open to high school students enrolled in grades nine through 12, whose home or school lies within the 13th Congressional District of Ohio.
1. All artwork must be two-dimensional
2. No artwork larger than 28 inches by 28 inches to the outside dimensions
3. No more than 3 inches in depth
4. Artwork cannot weigh more than 15 lbs.
5. Only one entry per student
6. All artwork must fall within one of the following categories:
• Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolors, etc
• Drawings: pastels, colored pencil, charcoal, ink, markers
• Collage: Must be two dimensional
• Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
• Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, etc
• Computer Generated Art
• Photography
7. No sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, weaving/ fabrics, stained glass or 3-D artwork
8. All artwork must be accompanied by the Student Information/ Release Form issued by Congresswoman Sutton’s office.
9. Each entry must be original in concept, design and execution and must not violate any U.S. Copyright Laws. Any entry which has been reproduced from another work or produced by another person will not be accepted.
10. Artwork will hang in the Capitol for the entire year of the exhibition and cannot be returned to students earlier. Students, therefore, should submit artwork they will not need for other purposes
11. The final decision regarding suitability for the exhibition in the capitol will be made by a panel of qualified persons chaired by the Architect of the Capitol.
