July 24, 2010: Congressman Holden visits Brenntag North America, Inc., headquartered outside of Reading, Pennsylvania. May 22, 2010: At the Schuylkill Haven Lions Club 75th Anniversary Banquet, Congressman Holden recognized Fred V. Knecht with Congressional Citation for his 70 years of service with the Schuylkill Haven Lions Club. At the age of 94, Mr. Knecht is the longest serving member of the local club and third longest serving/living Lion in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. May 22, 2010: At the Schuylkill Haven Lions Club 75th Anniversary Banquet, Congressman Holden honored the Lions for their years of dedicated service to the community of Schuylkill Haven. April 30, 2010: Congressman Holden meets with Chief Scott Haupt, of the Greenfields Fire Company in Bern Township, to award the fire company with a $17,290 FEMA grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. April 30, 2010: Congressman Holden meets with members of the Ruscumbmanor Volunteer Fire Co. #1, in Ruscumbmanor Township, to award the fire company with a $28,500 FEMA grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. April 7, 2010: Congressman Holden hosted Chairman Collin C. Peterson of Minnesota and members of the House Agriculture Committee in Harrisburg for a hearing to review dairy policy challenges and opportunities. The Committee heard testimony from the Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture, a professor of agriculture economics, and a panel of witnesses representing dairy farmers and processors in Pennsylvania. Congressman Holden hosted Chairman Collin C. Peterson of Minnesota and members of the House Agriculture Committee in Harrisburg for a hearing to review dairy policy challenges and opportunities. The Committee heard testimony from the Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture, a professor of agriculture economics, and a panel of witnesses representing dairy farmers and processors in Pennsylvania. April 7, 2010: Congressman Holden receives the Susquehanna River Basin Commission's Frederick L. Zimmermann Award for his efforts in water resources management by promoting and advancing watershed management and interstate cooperation. Mr. Hale was first elected as a member of the Schuylkill Haven School Board in 1967. He served as board secretary since 1984. January 11, 2010: Congressman Holden announces a $2.4 million Department of Defense appropriation for the Pennsylvania National Guard. The money will be used for the construction of a Machine Gun Training System at Fort Indiantown Gap.  The Congressman is joined by Pennsylvania National Guard's Deputy Adjutant Generals, Brigadier General Jerry Beck and Major General Stephen Sischo. Harrisburg University - January 8, 2010: Congressman Holden announces a congressional appropriation for Harrisburg University of Science & Technology. The $400,000 from the U.S. Department of Education will be used for curriculum development and laboratory upgrades, including the purchase of equipment and technology. Downtown Intermodal - January 6, 2010: Congressman Holden announces a congressional appropriation for the Harrisburg Transportation Center. The $400,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation will be used for mechanical and electrical repairs and upgrades; HVAC repairs and upgrades; structural repairs, and passenger platform safety upgrades. Dauphin Human Services - January 6, 2010: Congressman Holden announces a congressional appropriation for Dauphin County Human Services. The $300,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice will be used for the expansion of Family Group Conferencing (FGC) in Dauphin County.
