"The energy crisis we face is a worldwide crisis and cannot be solved by one country alone. While our country should lead by example and work toward a future reliant on clean energy, we must recognize that such a change will not happen overnight. Fossil fuels are abundant, affordable and available and we must use these resources to build a bridge to our end goal - a nation that will one day function on clean energy. America must have a balanced and responsible energy approach to decrease our dependency on foreign oil and fossil fuels and increase our dependency on renewable resources."

In July 2009, Senator Bennett test drove an advanced hydrogen fuel cell car. Bennett was the first senator to drive a hybrid vehicle when he purchased a 2000 Honda Insight, the first gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle sold in the United States.  Click on the above video to watch Senator Bennett's test drive and to hear him explain the importance of increasing our dependency on renewable resources.
