Rep. Patrick Murphy's Congressional Internship Program is designed to offer college students an opportunity to learn by working in a Congressional office. Our interns play a crucial role in helping Rep. Murphy carry out the necessary tasks in our busy DC and District offices. Interns perform a variety of tasks, including assisting with constituent mail, performing research for staff, assisting staff with daily tasks, and giving Capitol Tours. Interns have an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience of the legislative process.

  The last day to submit your application for the Washington, DC Summer internship program is April 15, 2010. The Summer internship program lasts from May 17, 2010 through August 24, 2010.

• We encourage anyone to apply however; priority will be given to those applicants who reside within the 8th District of Pennsylvania.


• Internships are available to students pursuing interests in political science, government administration, or other associated fields.


• There are limited number of internships in each of the three Congressional offices located in Washington, D.C., Bristol and Doylestown.


• Students may receive credit for their internship as approved through particular school.


• Internship periods typically coincide with school semesters


• Internship duties include administrative responsibilities, legislative and casework research, writing, and other tasks assigned by Congressman Murphy and the Congressional staff.


• Interns are expected to act professionally in an office environment and comply with office policies including attire, office hours and conduct.


• Interns must be able to work as part of a team, be personable and have good computer skills including Microsoft Office.
