Lead by Example: Abolish the Republican House Policy Committee

Leader Boehner often asks us the question: “If we get the majority back, what will we do differently.”

The public is asking us, too.

With the national debt at $13 trillion, everywhere we turn, the public is outraged at the Democrat majority’s obscene spending; and is concerned that the Republican minority has not learned its lesson regarding its past spending practices.

Only deeds, not words, can truly redeem us in Americans’ eyes; however, in the minority we have few opportunities to reduce government spending, due to the Democrat majority.

We the People Wide Awake

Beset by great challenges, Americans must determine freedom's future. In this crucible of liberty, America's salvation remains her free people" (Congressman McCotter, Wide Awake Pamphlet) Congressman McCotter's Pamphlet is a beacon for conservative values. I recommend it to those who are looking for answers in this difficult time. It reminds us where we come from, but also where our country needs to go. Today, we are acting like scared little children that are afraid of a thunder storm. America is wrapped up in a blanket of socialism and apathy. We are cowering in the corner hoping that our problems will just go away. Obama continues to blindly throw taxpayers money at bridges to no where and studies of the mating patterns of field mice.

How Dems Provide Wall Street Allies With Permanent Bailouts – With Or Without $50B Slush Fund

Submitted by Rep. John Boehner

There are conflicting reports as to whether Washington Democrats will remove a $50 billion bailout slush fund from their Wall Street bailout bill, but it’s a moot point. With or without the fund, Senate Banking Chairman Chris Dodd’s (D-CT) 1,408-page regulatory reform bill would empower the federal government to provide Wall Street with permanent bailouts, courtesy of American taxpayers.

Under the Dodd bill, the nation’s largest financial firms – including Goldman Sachs, President Obama’s top Wall Street ally – would be eligible for special treatment at the highest levels of government, including resolution authorities and resources unavailable to smaller financial firms.

So this is what change looks like...

So this is what change looks like. If he were here, Mr. Speaker, in this time of momentous national distress, I would remind the President of the United States that he is not the leader of a party or an ideology; he is the leader of our country—one founded, not to emulate others, but to inspire the world.

ObamaCare

My husband and I are watching this debate since this healthcare reform has been ongoing. We do agree with some of it, but not giving up our freedom for it. I understand insurance companies should take you even if you have a pre-existing condition, but do not charge us for it. If people do not have health care they should not be fined because what if the person is unemployed and has no means to pay for that fine. I don't know about you, but eventually that will lead the people to jail because they cannot pay for the fine. So, now, this will overcrowd our jails more than they already are. This bill is wrong and should be thrown in the trash. It should be revamped and Americans should be able to submit suggestions.

Blair House Summit: Obama’s Moses Moment…Not so much! by Dr. David Janda Last Thursday, February 25th, the Obama Administration staged a ‘Health Care Summit’ at Blair House. It was to be the President’s President “Moses Moment,” when e would part the seas and bring the Republicans, Democrats and Our country together and get everyone on board his “much maligned” Federally Run Health Care Program. (ObamaCare 2.0). His approach would be to “Listen,” particularly to The Republicans and Independents, and then part the Seas of Conflict and pass through to the Promised Land of a compromise. Well, it was over, finally over, after 7 hours of heavy winds.

Automotive Safety and Jobs in Michigan

Rep. McCotter, I'm a manager at an automotive supplier (and an old friend of yours from high school) whose business is threatened by a loophole in the Tread Act, which passed in 1999. This Act is meant to protect motorists from the dangers of driving under conditions that could result in tire tread separation and rollovers. A loophole in the Tread Act allows for unsafe tire pressure monitoring systems to be used to detect a low tire condition.

Energy Competition

Our current energy policy is in desperate need of competition. Competition across state lines in the form of deregulation as well as competition in new energy sources must be a clear priority going forward. It is clear that the dependence on foreign oil will need to change and a series of new technologies and existing ones must be utilized. However, the restrictions placed upon the exploration of new domestic sources are tragically outdated and do not accurately reflect the advancements in current technology. Environmental concerns in the form of misplaced policy agendas force the United States to ship billions of dollars overseas to regimes that are at best lukewarm allies.

Newfoundland Premier Comes to United States for Heart Surgery

I saw something interesting toady. Premier Danny Williams from Newfoundland, Canada is coming to the United States to receive heart surgery. I guess even those leading Canada want to escape the disastrous experiment known as socialized medicine. We have the best healthcare system and the best doctors in the world. So again, why do we want a shoddy version of what is in Canada? They don't even trust the system to work for a population smaller than that of California. So how on earth is it going to work for us? Reform is needed but the current legislation is so heinous that it is clearly not the answer. The article: http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=2510700

Congressman Chris Lee Comments on President Obama's State of the Union Address

Submitted by Rep. Chris Lee
Congressman Chris Lee (NY-26) commented on President Obama's State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress:

"I appreciated President Obama coming to the Capitol this evening to address Congress and the American people on the vast number of issues facing our great nation. Unfortunately, one year removed from the President's historic inauguration, we still face an economy in peril, 10 percent unemployment and a skyrocketing national debt. Coupled with the Christmas terror attack and ongoing challenges overseas, this time calls for leadership and bipartisanship to craft meaningful solutions to the issues facing our nation.

McCotter Denounces Execution of Iranian Freedom Fighters

Submitted by Rep. Thaddeus M...
U.S. Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter (R-MI), Chairman of the Republican House Policy Committee, today issued the following statement on reports that two men were executed and others sentenced to death for protesting the Iranian government.

"The barbarous Iranian regime is butchering innocents for seeking freedom. Per his words last night, I urge the President to lead all free and civilized nations in denouncing these state sponsored murders of freedom seekers and immediately press for maximum sanctions on this evil regime."

Republicans' "Hip Gap"

Submitted by Rep. Thaddeus M...

It permeates the public's consciousness and Big Media obsessively promotes the perception to our detriment. Yet, like a canker on a suitor, polite Republicans won't discuss it. No longer, however, can we pretend the issue doesn't exist. It does and, though painful to admit, we must confront the truth.

Republicans have a "hip gap."

This is not to say Democrats are hip. People who squander their precious breaths of life poring over Das Kapital, practicing rhythmic chanting with Kindergarten lyrics, chaining themselves to national monuments and/or writing memoirs prior to accomplishing anything are utter stiffs. They can only pass themselves off as cool in comparison to...well, us.

TKACIK & McCOTTER: Google in the coal mine

China's cyber-attacks on Google these past several weeks were, sadly, mere replays of state-sponsored Chinese attacks on literally thousands of other American and foreign companies, human rights groups, individuals and, yes, even the U.S. government, including Congress.
