Waxman delivered remarks at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's summit “The U.S. and Israel: Building Business Through Innovation.” At the conclusion of his remarks marking the 25th anniversary of the U.S.-Israel Free Trade Agreement, the Chairman addressed the Chamber’s opposition to job-creating energy and climate legislation and the lack of transparency in the funding of the organization’s political advertising campaigns.

    On October 8, 2010, President Obama signed into law the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act, which updates the communications laws to enable individuals with vision, hearing, and other disabilities to fully utilize Internet-based communications services and equipment and to better access video programming.

  • October 5, 2010 Rep. Waxman joins California Democratic Congressional Delegation Urging Bank Investigations

    Rep. Waxman and California Democratic Congressional Delegation (CDCD) members sent a letter to Attorney General Holder, Federal Reserve Chair Bernanke, and Comptroller of the Currency Dugan requesting investigations into systemic wrongdoing by financial institutions in their handling of delinquent mortgages, mortgage modifications, and foreclosures. Delegation members have received thousands of complaints from their constituents, which appear to outline a clear pattern of misconduct on the part of lenders and servicers. Recent press accounts have also reinforced the view that these institutions are routinely failing to respond in a timely manner, misplacing requested documents, and misleading both borrowers and the government about loan modifications, forbearances, and other housing related applications.
