Where can I find federal grants?
The federal government provides grants for individuals, organizations, non-profits, small businesses, and local and state governments. Federal grants are usually designed to support a specific project. Below are links to two government sites where you can search for grants.
1. Grants.gov. This government website lists current competitive grant opportunities from all federal agencies. Grant-seekers can sign up to receive e-mail notification of grant opportunities; check on notices of funding availability (NOFAs) posted in the last 7 days; and apply for federal grants by downloading the application and submitting online.
2. Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. Here you can access a database of all federal programs available to state and local governments; public and private profit and non-profit organizations and institutions; specialized groups; and individuals. Federal depository libraries usually keep a hard-copy of the catalog as well, though it is printed only once a year while the website is updated regularly.

• USA Grants for Nonprofits. This website lists federal grants for nonprofits, as well as tax information, loans, and other forms of assistance.
• Small Business Grants and Loans. This website lists federal, state and local governments financing programs to help small business start and grow their operations. These programs include low-interest loans, venture capital, and scientific and economic development grants.
• U.S. Department of Homeland Security Grants. This website includes information on homeland security and non-disaster grant programs, which are mostly designed for state and local governments and specific entities such as colleges, etc. Includes Urban Area Security Initiative, Citizens Corps, Medical Response System, Operation Stonegarden (border security), Infrastructure Protection.
