Representative Henry A. Waxman 30th District of California

Rep. Waxman has been working closely with the City of Santa Monica, members of the community surrounding the Santa Monica Airport (SMO), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to address safety, noise and pollution at the airport. An issue of particular concern is the absence of a Runway Safety Area (RSA), or a landing buffer, at either end of the airport. Rep. Waxman will continue to press the FAA to allow meaningful and appropriate runway safety improvements to keep airport users and the surrounding neighborhood safe.
