Video of my opening remarks on the Fire Grants Bill:
On November 18, I introduced the Fire Grants Reauthorization Act on the House
floor,
which would strengthen the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. The
AFG program has helped fire departments throughout Middle Tennessee purchase
new firefighting and protective equipment. The bipartisan bill passed the House
by a vote of 395 - 31. To read more about the bill, click here.

On October 22, the U.S. House passed overwhelmingly passed the bipartisan
Solar Technology Roadmap Act,
which would create a national plan to
facilitate
the research, development
and
demonstration
of American solar technology in
partnership with the private
sector.
The bill will help additional solar projects
get off the ground, and in turn
create even
more clear energy and green jobs
in

On October 16, the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s
Subcommittee
on Energy and the Environment held a legislative hearing
on the Radioactive
Import Deterrence (RID) Act, bipartisan legislation that
I authored.
The RID Act
would ban the importation of foreign-generated
radioactive waste
for disposal in

On June 8, Congressman Lincoln Davis and I held a roundtable
discussion at
the Murfreesboro City Hall with weather experts,
meteorologists, and first-responders
to discuss ways to improve
tornado
forecasting, preparedness, and
response.

and I called on the
Obama administration to replace him
immediately.
