Requesting a U.S. Flag:

As a member of Congress, I am able to arrange for an American flag to be flown over the United States Capitol Building. Many people like to have the flags flown in recognition of a special occasion, achievement or event, or honor of a particular person. You may also request to have your flag flown on a specific date, but please make sure to submit these requests four to six weeks in advance.

To order a flag, you must be a resident in the 14th District of Pennsylvania, or send the flag to a person who lives in my district. Flags may be flown on any day of the year excluding Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. Each flag is accompanied by a certificate which confirms that it was flown over the Capitol building. Here's an example of what a certificate accompanying the flag might say:

This flag was flown for John Smith in recognition of his retirement from teaching after 40 years of dedicated service.

There is no limit on the number of flags that may be purchased, but please keep in mind that unless multiple order forms are submitted, the flags will all be flown on the same day.

If you would like to learn more about the American flag, the proper way to fly it, instructions for folding the flag, or how to dispose of unserviceable flags, the American Legion website can provide you with that information.

To order a flag, simply fill out and print the flag request form and return it to my Pittsburgh office:

Please keep in mind that we only accept checks.

We will make every effort to deliver your flags as quickly as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience.
