Internships

My own interest in public service was sparked by an internship for First District Congressman Keith Sebelius in 1974.  As an intern, I was able to see firsthand how a congressional office operates and how the legislative process works.  These same opportunities are available to Kansans that intern in my congressional office.

Each year, there are three internship sessions.  The first session begins in January and ends in May.  The second session spans the summer months; while the third session begins in September and ends in December.  Internships are available at all four of my office locations.

To apply for an internship, students must submit by fax a letter detailing their interest in public service and describing their internship goals, a resume, college transcript, three letters of reference and a completed internship application form.  In order to ensure the complete consideration of each applicant, materials must be submitted by the deadline shown on the application.

If you have questions about internships, please contact the Internship Coordinator in my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 225-2715.

* Please note that priority will be given to residents of the First Congressional District of Kansas who have completed at least two years of college.
