Radanovich Honors Our Armed Forces on Memorial Day

Washington, May 31 -

Congressman George Radanovich (R-Mariposa) released the following statement honoring the men and women of our Armed Forces on Memorial Day.

“Thank you for joining me this Memorial Day in remembering the men and women who have fought so valiantly to protect our nation.  My respect and sincere gratitude goes out to the men and women who currently serve in our Armed Forces, our veterans, our military families and those we have lost defending our country.

“Today we should reflect on the words of Ronald Reagan when he said “One’s country is worth dying for, and democracy is worth dying for, because it’s the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man.”  We are a great democracy because we have men and women who are willing to fight and sacrifice their life to protect the principles on which our country was founded.  For more than two centuries, from the American Revolution to the War on Terror, the courageous individuals of our military have selflessly fought to protect our country against those who threaten our democracy.

“On Memorial Day, we remember and honor the war fighters who have fallen in the name of protecting America.  These individuals have made the ultimate sacrifice in order to secure our freedoms and inalienable rights for generations to come.  The sacrifice they have made has secured freedoms not only for all Americans, but for millions of people around the world.

“We also must remember the families who have lost their sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters.  Such losses are unparalleled and should never have to be endured.  It is essential to acknowledge the families in my Congressional District and around the Nation who proudly display their gold star service flags to honor the loss of a family member.  As a community we should recognize these families for the sacrifices they have made in the name of protecting all Americans.  The handfuls of families who have undergone the hardship of losing a loved one in combat are truly an inspiration to me.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

“We are indebted to the great men and women of our military and their service to our country.  To our heroes of the Armed Forces and for those men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice, you will never be forgotten.  May God bless you, and may God bless America.”
