Washington, Oct 19 -

For the past 16 years it has been my honor and privilege to represent you in Congress.  As you may know, in late December 2009, I announced my forthcoming retirement at the end of the 111th Congress.  This was not a decision that came easily, as I have thoroughly enjoyed working to preserve, protect, and promote the unique and wonderful traditions and industries of California’s Central Valley.  Shortly after the election on November 2, 2010, the House of Representatives will begin closing down congressional offices of retiring Members and begin preparing those offices for the start of the 112th Congress, which begins on January 3, 2011.  During this transition period, my office will be closing.  My staff and I will make every effort, within our limited capacity, to assist and to service the needs of our congressional district.  Please note the deadlines for any requests for Congressional Tours, Flags or casework assistance:

Constituent casework requests will no longer be accepted after October 29th, 2010.
Tour requests will no longer be fulfilled for tours taking place after November 12th, 2010.
Flag requests will no longer be fulfilled for flags being flown after November 12th, 2010.

It has been my honor to serve you and California’s 19th Congressional District.  I wish you the best and I look forward to living among you to witness the progress that our great District and State will continue to make in the future.
